In the following interview transcript, Wilson Hu, an employee at Ace Hardware, recounts what he saw on the day of the murder.
Q: What is your relation to Jonathan?
A: Well I've known him since we were in third grade. We grew up together and I don't know anyone who would even think of hurting him.
Q: Do you see him at all during the day or after school?
A: Yeah, I have one class with him. Other than that, the only times I see him is during tennis practice.
Q: What were you doing on May 12th after school?
A: I've been working at Ace Hardware for almost a year. They had scheduled my shift to begin right at 2:30. I rushed out of school to get there on time. They had me restock the shelves.
Q: Did you notice anything out of the ordinary while working?
A: It was a slow day, but nothing really stuck out. Well, actually...now that you mention it, I do remember a suspicious fellow walking into the store.
Q: A suspicious fellow? Describe him please.
A: He was wearing a red hoodie with the hood pulled up so I didn't get to see his face. Though I did see he wore a pair of black thick-framed glasses and had a goofy haircut.
Q: I thought you said he had his hood pulled up?
A: Yeah, well even with the hood, his hair was a mess and stuck out.
Q: Please continue.
A: He had something in his hand. I think it was a bottle of juice...no...it was a bottle of Gatorade. The lemon lime flavored one to be precise. I noticed he came in like he was on a mission. He was only in the store for a couple of minutes. When he passed by me, I heard him mutter something. It was hard to make out but I could have sworn he was talking about his chemistry class.
Q: Did he buy anything?
A: I'm not sure because I wasn't handling the cash register that day. However, I did notice that there was a jug of antifreeze missing. This was right after I restocked that aisle and since it was a slow day, there was no one in the store but him. He could have easily walked out of the store with the antifreeze under his sweater.
Q: Are you aware of the dangers of antifreeze?
A: Yeah. We're told all the time to warn customers of the dangers of this chemical. It's poisonous and can be diluted into a drink very easily. I heard it tastes sweet.

May 17th, 2010
Wilson Hu was interviewed again after his first enlightening interview.
Q: Did you see Jonathan before he was killed?
A: Yeah, I called in sick to work because we had a big tennis game that day. If we beat our opponents we would have won the league title. It goes without saying that we had many spectators that day.
Q: What happened during the game?
A: Jonathan was facing off with an opponent and had won the first set. During their break, Anthony came over and gave Jonathan a sip of his lemon lime Gatorade.
Q: They shared the drink?
A: Yeah. I'm not sure where he got it from but Anthony always shares his food with Jonathan so it wasn't unusual for them to share a drink. Though Jonathan did complain about how the Gatorade was unusually sweet and tasted a bit different.
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about Jonathan and Anthony.
A: Yeah. I remembered they met right before high school started. The instant they became buddies, I already knew that they would be rivals.
Q: Rivals? Can you elaborate?
A: Yeah, during high school, it was clear who was the better of the two. Jonathan joined track along with Anthony. Even though Anthony had ran during cross-country season, Jonathan was still able to beat him during indoor and outdoor track. Even in their accounting class Jonathan would edge Anthony out by a point or two on their report cards. They often made fun at each other, but their rivalry could really get heated.
Q: Are there any recent examples of any disagreements between the two?
A: Um, I do remember that Anthony had a favorite pair of shorts. He had let Donald Ha borrow them for a while. But one day Jonathan needed a pair of shorts for tennis so Donald lent him his. Jonathan accidentally ripped a hole in the shorts. You should have seen the look on Anthony's face. Boy, he was real mad.
Q: Please continue with the rest of the tennis match.
A: Jonathan played well for the first half of the second set, but it then started to go downhill. He complained of stomach pains and felt really out of breath. We ended up losing the title to Cambridge.
Q: Did you see him at all afterward?
A: No, he went home right after the match. He looked kind of pale.
